The Utah Half is a 2-transition point-to-point race. The race begins at 7:15AM, and athletes will start in a wave-based format. The Transition Areas (TAs) open at 5:00AM and are located near the boat ramp of the Rock Cliff Marina and at a field (aka race central) about 1 mile away from T1. The remainder of the race is a beautiful journey through Heber, Utah.
*Relay Teams: As you prepare for the race, remember that each team is issued only one timing chip, swim cap, and bib number.
*Remember: There are 2 transition areas in this race. Please plan accordingly.
This schedule is subject to change. The final race day schedule and any modifications will be included in an email sent out to athletes approximately one week before the race and during the pre-race briefing.
*Cut-off times: Failure to enter the transition area before the cut-off time will result in a DNF (Did not finish). Coverage and support will not be provided after the cut-off.

Sprint / Olympic / 1.2 Mile Half
Relay Teams: The swimmer will transfer their timing chip to the cyclist inside the TA once the swim portion has been completed.
Wetsuits are required for The Utah Half. We highly recommend wearing a neoprene swim cap or multiple swim caps underneath your Racetri issued swim cap. You must wear the swim cap issued to you during the swim on the outside. Personal Caps are not allowed.
The swim course is in gorgeous, pristine water and is perfect conditions to set a new open water personal record! Athletes will complete two .6 mile loops around a traditional triangle course.
15 Mile Sprint / 25 Mile Olympic / 56 Miles Half
Relay Teams: The cyclist will need to wait inside the TA to receive the timing chip from the swimmer.
Athletes will exit the swim and make their way to the TA. Helmets must be on and fastened before mountain your bike. Riding bikes inside the TA is not allowed.
The bike route is a beautiful view of country, mountains, rivers and gorgeous vistas in Heber. The total route distance is 55.87 miles, with a total ascent of 2,526.69 ft. and an elevation gain of 7,508.43 ft. The good news about this course is that after mile 40 it’s all downhill to the finish! You can save up some leg juice for the run, or lay down some fast splits for the last 16 miles.
Be cautious, yield to traffic, and obey all officers. Ride to the ride and pass on the left. Make sure to slow down and be prepared to dismount at the dismount line.
*There will be one aid station that athletes will pass at approximately miles 7, 24.5, 31, and 48. If you would like to send a drop bag with any special nutrition to this aid station, drop it off at check in on race morning.
Sprint / Olympic / 13.1 Mile Half Iron
Relay Teams: The runner will need to be waiting inside the TA to receive the timing chip from the biker.
The course is one of our best run courses in the entire Racetri line up! There is nothing quite like gliding across the wooden boardwalks that span across streams fed by mountain glaciers! The two loop course has a total elevation gain of 564 ft. Follow the directional signs and give a big thumbs up as you cross the finish line. You did it!
*The aid stations on the run course are subject to change. There will be aid stations at approximately miles 2.5, 4.5, 5, 6.5, 9, 11, 11.5, and 13.
Hydration and goodies will be available for athletes at the finish line. To request favorites, please email email@example.com. Race results will be posted to the website on Saturday.
When you are ready to leave at the end of the day, athletes can take the shuttle back to the Francis parking lot, get their vehicle, and drive to Race Central (T2) to retrieve all their gear and exit. Please be very careful as athletes and pedestrians may still be very active.
During registration, you can choose which location you would like to pick up your race packet. Your race packet contains your swim cap, timing chip, and race t-shirt. Registered athletes will receive packet pickup dates and details in an email approximately a week before the race. It is highly recommended you pick up your packet during the week, rather than the weekend of the race. If you must pick up your packet on race day, pickup is available near T1 at 6AM. Plan to arrive early if you are picking up on race morning.
You must have your photo ID and USAT card (if applicable) to pick up your packet. This is a USAT requirement. A friend or family member cannot pick up your packet for you – there are no exceptions to this rule.

Transition Areas and Shuttle
Remember there are 2 transition areas for this race. T1 is located next to the boat ramp at Rock Cliff marina. T2 is located in a field about 1 mile from T1. When you arrive on race morning, parking is available in Francis and you will have two options to set up at the TAs:
- If you’re alone: Drive past the Rock Cliff turn off to the very small city of Francis. Turn right on Spring Hallow Road and find parking on the left. Get your bike and your gear on your back and coast downhill 3.5 miles to Packet Pickup.
- Set up T2 with all your running gear, and then bike 1 mile to T1 to set up your swimming and biking gear.
- If you have a friend or loved one with you: Have them drive and drop you off at the Rock Cliff turn off. Your friend will proceed to the turn off to Francis, park the car, and take the shuttle down to Rock Cliff. No bikes are allowed on the shuttle.
- Once you are dropped off, bike less than a mile to Packet Pickup to check in and then set up at T2 with all your running gear. Afterwards, bike 1 mile to T1 to set up your swimming and biking gear.
Please be aware that setting up at two transition areas can take a significant amount of time. Make sure you arrive early enough to set up. We will start the race on time.
T1 Gear Bags: All athletes will receive a large trash bag with their race number inside their race packet. This bag is for you to pack up your T1 things (wetsuit, cap, goggles, towel, etc.) This bag will be left inside T1. Race personnel will collect these bags and bring them to the finish line for you to retrieve when you finish the race. DO NOT leave anything inside T1 except this bag. When the final athlete exits T1, everything that is not inside a gear bag will be cleaned up and removed.
Shuttle: The shuttle begins at [ ] and will run from continuously throughout the day between the Francis parking lot and Race Central (T2). We ask that spectators give up their seats for any athletes and take the next shuttle. Spectators will be asked by the shuttle driver for the $2 fee to enter the park. Exact change is appreciated. The park fee for athletes was part of the registration fee and therefore athletes will not be charged. Athletes need to be at T1 and set up by 6:30 AM. Please be aware that if your athletes is extremely fast (top 30 overall), there may be a chance that you do not make it back in time to see them finish.
Parking: There is absolutely no parking at or near the Rock Cliff Marina. There is no room for vehicles inside this area. All parking will be at the turn off in Francis. Review the two options in the section above as you plan for the race.
Spectators: Please remember that spectators are not allowed in the transition area during any part of the race. Be ready to pay the $2 fee to enter the park while on the shuttle. Athletes paid this fee as part of the race registration and will not be charged, but any spectators will need to pay this fee in order to enter the park.
Weather Forecast: The average temperatures for late June in Heber, Utah are highs of 80 and lows of 43. Athletes will be notified of any changes caused by the weather. Track the forecast here.
